Mushroom hunting

Running in a flat city is great and you soon discover a spirit for it, but then once in a while you have to change the scenary for something with more hills so you get the full muscle workout. Since I don’t get out of the city much, I took the opportunity to go picking mushrooms with Klemen Robnik this past Saturday.

Even though it’s not running, the steep terrain that you have to climb to actually find mushrooms, is challenging and tiring enough.

This was my first real mushroom picking and I must I was surprised at how many different species we actually located. Even though we found just a few of edible ones between the mushrooms that Klemen knew, I’m sure that found at least 10 different types.

We didn’t find enough to actually make a meal and I can’t comment much more since I didn’t remember much more, but it’s definitely fun past time, worth repeating every other weekend.

  1. well – climbing the steep slopes isn't a necesity when you go mushroom picking – but it makes a better workout and chances of finding anything strongly correlate with difficulty of terrain 🙂
even tough sundays picking around Celje was on flat terrain in a very popular forest and I found more than enough for a meal
