Basically you keep an “upstream” branch in git that contains unmodified releases (or whatever you get) from upstream developers. You update and merge this branch into your “master” branch as needed. “master” has the current code you are using and also contains commits with any local changes you have made.

It works fairly well for even for upstreams that don’t have a sane release policy. Here’s a wall of text that describes it: http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/notes/debian/git.html (see Repository layout and git-import-orig).

Comment on Reverse Job Fair Slovenia – can we do it? by Marko http://www.jurecuhalev.com/blog/2011/07/17/reverse-job-fair-slovenia-can-we-do-it/comment-page-1/#comment-23565 Mon, 18 Jul 2011 06:37:22 +0000 http://www.jurecuhalev.com/blog/?p=1530#comment-23565 Interesting concept. I would certainly willing to give it a go, but not in the middle of summer. After dConstruct would probably be best (everyone back and so on).

Why not?

It would be interesting to see what people are up to with their hobby projects…

Comment on Theme Hybrid is a better WordPress theme framework by Maarten Brouwers http://www.jurecuhalev.com/blog/2011/05/01/theme-hybrid-is-a-better-wordpress-theme-framework/comment-page-1/#comment-23555 Mon, 09 May 2011 10:43:15 +0000 http://www.jurecuhalev.com/blog/?p=1521#comment-23555 Wouldn’t call it a ‘chance to work with WordPress’, for exactly that reason you are describing: the terrible state many of the themes are in (code wise). But this sounds good. Will bookmark it. Thanks!

I still prefer the way LaunchBar works, the clipboard history for example (you can see from which app its pasted, scroll throug the whole history … )
I guess its a matter of taste for the most part

I love QuickCals Smart Reminders. I already used it as a widget and now I even got involved and helped to design the UI.
