So how can we construct a place inside an airport?<\/li>\n<li> So what\u2019s a sense of place? It\u2019s hard to share and compare your sense of place with each other. Architectural approach might not be the best way to do it.<\/li>\n<li>Sense of place doesn\u2019t have to be attached to a physical space. It\u2019s more of a virtual construct based on social interaction.<\/li>\n<li>The problem: you don\u2019t want to socialize, because you\u2019re in the transit; your\u2019ve very vulnerable and you care only about your travels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/57249471@N00\/4172558776\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2555\/4172558776_cdff99d2aa.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Posters inside washrooms, that you can use to share things with each other. The posters were placed inside toilet doors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ghost in the machine is used to criticize the idea of dualism by Descartes. Dualism &#8211; the body is just a vehicle of the mind. By having a belief that body is a slave the mind, it\u2019s the same as saying that we\u2019re just a ghost in the machine.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s about how you define the humanity &#8211; separation of human and being, human vs. animal. Animals are locked into instincts while humans are of free will.<\/li>\n<li>Animal is the machine, while human is the ghost in the machine; meaning that we\u2019re ghost of the animal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Living Machine<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Our best machines are made of sunshine; they are all light and clean because they are nothing but signals, electromagnetic waves, a section of a spectrum.<br \/>\n\u2014\u00a0Haraway, Donna. \u201cA Manifesto for Cyborgs: Science, Technology, and Socialist Feminism in the 1980s.\u201d The Haraway Reader. 1985.
