As we think about wiki\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and ICT, we feel that we often don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know if we can lead the technology or does the technology lead us.<\/p>\n<p>When we think about education, we don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know if better educations lead to innovation which leads to better technology or is it the other way around?<\/p>\n<p>As an development country, is technology in classrooms, a luxury or a fundamental tool?<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Education frameworks has lots of components &#8211; Environment, Administration, Tools, Curricula &amp; Content, Assessment, Certification, Actors, Guardians, Recipients.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Education evolution:<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-industry age; We had One to One tutoring. Teacher is the sole service provider. There is a small group of students. The education at that time it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s based on Memorizing &#8211; reciting and dictating.<\/li>\n<li>Industry age;\u00c2\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Small group of different ages. Single teach that knows everything. Blackboard and chalk with eventual books. We had different issues &#8211; Teacher to student ratio, etc.<\/li>\n<li>New tools: Radio &amp; TV. Broadcasting techniques. We can now reach great number of people and it opens up recipient area. Different types of certification emerges.<\/li>\n<li>Egypt &#8211; 40k schools with 16M students and 1.2M Teachers. <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Education\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Education\">Ministry of Education<\/a> for central management.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Internet age &#8211; Smart Schools Network. Introducing ICT in preparatory schools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Computer labs<\/li>\n<li>Teachers room<\/li>\n<li>Modern Classroom<\/li>\n<li>Teachers training<\/li>\n<li>E-books<\/li>\n<li>Other: Multiplicity of sources of knowldege; Breaking the monopoly of the teachers; Virtual hands-on experience; Connecting Community; Partners: MoE, MCIT, Education Service Providers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Web 2.0 age<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Egypt 2008 &#8211; 38 million Mobile users. 2200 IT-Clubs. 9.5 Million broadband users. Pc for All initiative. Arabic eContent Initiative.<\/li>\n<li>Lots of partners for Education, from international corporations to different NGO\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and government services to help.<\/li>\n<li>Wiki paradigm: peering, sharing, mass collaboration, innovation, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"User-generated content\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/User-generated_content\">User generated content<\/a>, Co-creation, Prosumers, Acting globally, Openness.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the questions is &#8211; are Teachers, Institution, Business, Children, even Parents &#8211; Ready? And of course, what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s happening and what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s coming ahead for us?<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Egyptian proverb &#8211; Teacher is like a prophet.
